Stylie on Stylie

My musical journey started back in 1987 listening to the like of Inner City, Teknotronic, Snap, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Mantronix and De La Soul. This then led me to The Prodigy (Experience) and straight into the hardcore scene where I found my passion for music. I then started to rave with friends at such nights as Seduction, Fantazia, Desire, and Labyrinth. With the experience of those raves, and the people, I quickly realised that I wanted much more from the scene. A good friend then taught me to mix and I started spending all my money on my now extensive vinyl collection. A unique DJ'ing style takes a lot of practice and effort to master, taking months, sometimes years! But with influences such as Andy C , DJ Hype, Grooverider, and Devious D guiding me, I found I had quickly passed the 'bedroom DJ' phase and, once again, wanted more.

Linking up with MC 2 Shy, we decided to master a mix tape to send out to club promoters and radio management teams across the country. Before long, 2 Shy and myself had a regular 10am to 12pm Saturday morning slot on the mighty RUDE FM 104.3. Our show was called DA RUDE AWAKENING Show.

'To all the dedicated listeners, week in, week out, BIG IT UP!'

Following our success with our show, the club promoters came looking and started booking! I have played for promoters such as Telepathy, One Nation, Yin&Yan, Milwaukee's, and Fusion (Amsterdam) and in venues such as Alexandra Palace, Traxx Warehouse, Bagley's, Rex and EQ. In 1998, I was introduced to Mistic, who had started work engineering and producing his own Drum and Bass music. This was the platform from which Dark Wax was born. Shortly after, Mistic introduced me to close friend Robert, Dark Wax's Manager, and the team was complete.

From this point, we knew we had to follow a strict plan of action if we were going to make Dark Wax a success. We spent a lot of time locked in meetings with business advisors. With a business plan in place we then had to apply for, and win, funding. This we did from The Princes' Trust. Our work, since then, has been promotion and networking. This led us to launch Dark Wax with a massive, and hugely successful, launch party at the Mass, Brixton on the 7th August 2004 called Devastation. With hard work, time and dedication from all involved and never forgetting the cash injection from the Princes' Trust, Dark Wax is now a reality.

Dark Wax aims to be more than a mere record label. The future of our music is more than just vinyl. Our aim now is to become a fully equipped Multimedia company which can offer services and help portals to people within the Media business circle from 2004 and years beyond!

NUFF LOVE ALWAYS TO ALL.

PEACE.
