Starting out on an Atari at college with no sampler or synths, Paulix attempted to get to grips with the daunting world of music production. It wasn't until he bought a PC 2 years later that he really began to make sounds that people were into.
The chaotic drum programming had always been one of the things which had attracted him to making D&B music in the first place and with the new capabilities he now had, he was able to go deeper into this and really began learning how to get the breaks to work for him.
From here all that was needed was a fat bassline, which was no problem after going to a Valve night at the Stratford Rex – the night taught him how heavy the bass should be and the way it can move people.
More recently Paulix has been getting yet deeper into the breaks and has started making some choppage tunes which have been well received by everyone who's heard them. Being described by some as Twisted Dark Funk, Paulix has began to find his feet in style, preferring to go deep and dark instead of following the current ‘wall of sound' trend adopted by many people at the moment.
Future plans for Paulix is simply to carry on making music that people will continue to appreciate and start playing live in some form or another.
